Basic Design
June 13th, 2009
Way back in February, when we decided not to design a folding bike for a school project, there was one design in particular that I was fooling around with. It turns out the basic design of this bike is what JB and I have decided to shoot for. I have since found this website that gives instructions on how to build a simple, wooden bicycle whose frame is similar to the one we are planning to produce:
Now, the main task at hand is to alter this simple design to facilitate the folding of the frame. Specifically, we need to design each joint of the bicycle and the cross section of each bar. We spent about 45 minutes convincing ourselves this could work and plan on each having a separate set of sketches before our next official meeting. Stay tuned.
