Chris worked all weekend and even KD was here yesterday. Maybe Vrindy was here, too. I don’t know since I was sequestered to my quarters. KD and Chris are at it again today and the mechanical inspection will be tomorrow. After that, it’s on to window replacements, sheetrocking and floors.

Chris told us today that he used over 2,000 feet of that attractive yellow wire for our kitchen. The average new house he builds uses 3,000.

The pull from gravity is

Tinged with a more ominous tone than before.

I can feel it in my limbs.

In my bones.

I am reminded that it is only God’s will that

Keeps my upright.

I am a mechanical thing,

Linked by ligaments and muscle. Gears and joints.

Taking a year of life to learn to walk,

And several more to rehearse his reflexive action.

Then taking a single last breath to insure that I will

Never again put one foot in front of the other.

This is not frightening.

Nor is it saddening.

Nor is it disheartening in any way.

It is beautiful

because

it is truth.
